Default Resume for On-line Poker players

Hello,

I am applying for a job for the first time since becoming a professional poker player and thus need to write this area into my resume. I have been solely playing on-line poker for a little over a year. I am finding this sort of difficult. Anyone else had to do this yet?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.

Depending on if you have prior work experience, I'd really consider not including this. If you've only been playing a little over a year, just say you had to care for a dying relative and were living off savings.

Ok let's try this:

Professional Online Poker Player January 2006 -- Present:

During the last year, I have put my energy into living off of a sport that many do not understand. Through the use of advanced statistical analysis and with the exercise of great discipline I have earned XX dollars playing medium stakes poker on both FullTilt and PokerStars. The position is very fulfulling monetarily, however I know that my skills can be used in a manner more conducive to societal growth.

I'd be willing to include it if:

-The job is financial
-Your bosses are male

A women giving the interview may find it quite sexy and ask you if you would like to get some drinks.
Or think your a child with a dream, but the guy might think the same thing.
I think it takes balls to put it on the resume and would deff show you have character and arent afraid to go for what you want. DO IT

HA! Well, actually I am a woman so I don't really know if that will work. But actually the job I am currently applying for has something that has to do with poker, so I am not really concerned about that one. But I am also thinking of applying for some non-poker related jobs also and just wondering what people do with this. I have other job experience and a degree. Thanks so much for all the responses so far!

Holy crap -- the first nice comment I've ever received directly related to a post in the ZOO!! God bless you sweet child and may your wildest career ambitions bring you financial and spiritual peace of mind. (P.S. Vote for Ron Paul in 2008)

there are a number of previous threads on this here and, i think, in OOT.

from memory, my favourite euphemism was to refer to "Statistical Based Capital Management" or generally an Internet Business
