just talked to my dad (a police officer in portland or), and he said that if it were in portland

class c felony for the fake id
2 gross misdmeanor reckless driving, and the pot

the id thing is whats really gonna hurt him

worst/avg case no more than 6 months in county jail served concurrent on all charges and this is what he would expect to see happen in portland

best case
$fine community service, counsling, probation (for a pretty good lenght)

my dad went on an on about how damaging a felony is...i think that stuff is pretty well know, so i want type all that.

Even though its already been said, he biggest mistake he said was subitting to the search.
If he would have said no, and they would have played the terriost card, which my dad said is very unlikely, they would have detained him, taken him to jail, and impounded his car. My dad also said that he probably would not have done all this because it is a VERY large pain in the ass.

my dad also said that if he hires a realy good attorney, and has no prior convinctions and gets a pretty leinite(sp) judge he could get off pretty light

Reading this thread piecemeal so sorry if I missed some comments and I am just trying to add some informed info. I am not trying to disagree with any of your fathers info regarding police procedure but from someone who has a pretty good familiarity with passport services...the international ID is a very big deal especially from a country such as Pakistan. Regardless of whether or not there are immediate charges, good ole Ozzy's life is going to change and I hope his books and transactions over the last 2 years are well in order.

I have no idea who this person is as I don't follow online players and have no reason to bash him. I am not familiar with his heritage although I see there are some references that I have not read yet but forging international identification documents from a flagged country in this day and age will change your life.

Here should be Ozzy's BBV post.

Value-beat: got pulled over driving recklessly in my sick M6.
Beat: cops found my cash, fake id, weed, grinder etc.
Brag: got my shiet back; ready to hustle again.
Variance: bbv can't tell if I'm Arabic or not.

Sorry, quoted the wrong thing...

"
on the upside, no mention of federal investigation into 'illegal internet gambling/money laundering.' "

There would be no mention of this at this time, this is what I was referring to..just posted again regarding the travel documents which will also affect this issue.

Sorry for the confusion.

I don't know if it is different if it is international v a fake US driver's license...

But, the id is the worst part for him because he's being charged with forgery. See this info...

"Whether in the Phoenix area, or anywhere in Arizona, per A.R.S. §13-2002 "Forgery" occurs when a person either knowingly completes or alters a written instrument (usually a check), knowingly possesses a forged instrument, or knowingly offers or presents a forged instrument (whether it is accepted or not). A forged instrument can have a proper signature, but a forged amount or forged material information contained within the document. If a person is possessing five (5) or more forged instruments, there is a statutory inference that the instruments were possessed with the "intent to defraud".

Possible Punishment

Forgery is a class four (4) felony. For a first offense, Possible Punishment includes probation with zero (0) days in jail up to one (1) year in jail; or prison of one (1) year to three and three quarters (3.75) years of incarceration. If a person has one (1) allegeable historical prior conviction, then the "prison only" range is two and one quarter (2.25) years to seven and one half (7.5) years of incarceration. If a person has two (2) allegeable historical prior convictions, then the "prison only" range is six (6) years to fifteen (15) years of incarceration."

Did he have a "fake" ID, or what is a real ID that belonged to someone else?

I think some of the facts of this story have been distorted. Trust me, newspapers print whatever half-assed story they need or want to.

Possessing someone else's ID in Texas is NOT illegal.

Presenting someone elses ID as your own to a cop IS illegal but its not forgery and its not a felony

Possessing a fake ID could be forgery, but didnt I read it was a Pakastani ID? Im not 100% sure, but I dont think thats illegal either. It would have to be an official American ID, unless possibly the FBI has some federal charge that covers possessing fake foreign documents which is possible.
