op-raise w 55, 3bet by unknown, flop QQ8
Villain is unknown. What is the standard play here?

Re: op-raise w 55, 3bet by unknown, flop QQ8
with this hand I really want to raise somewhere to have villain make a ftop mistake fold with unpaired cards that have 12 outs
also when you play it passive and he bets the river here you are usually screwed kind of a sick spot |

I think c/r the flop has some merit. The only problem I have with it is that im seeing a lot of people make the idiotic "continuation 3 bet" with AK and I just want to showdown cheaply. I also want to see what the unknown is 3 betting me with.

what i don t like with cc line is your let your opponement get is out really too cheaply and play is hand really too easy.
my standard play is to ce but i don t know if ti s really good and i m not feel confortable when i do this |

Re: op-raise w 55, 3bet by unknown, flop QQ8
You played this hand perfectly. When against an unknown at this level the last thing you want to do is C/R this flop and potentially put yourself in a tough situation. Minimizing your investment and check/calling down is the play here until you get a read.
When HU OOP with a marginal hand against an unknown check/calling down will usually be the money play becuz it is generally unwise to take an aggressive action with a marginal hand unless you know exactly how to handle further aggression from your opponent. Since you have no read dont take an aggressive line here. This idea has even more value in the lower limits like 2-4 or below becuz there's more players who dont play well with the initiative becuz they dont know how to hand read. So the idea that check/calling down allows your opponent to play perfectly doesnt really apply at this level. |

[/ QUOTE ] I would also play any pair this way so they will never know when they are value betting, so how can they be playing perfectly? Edit: i.e. I agree with this statement. |
