I am trying to decide between books, One from each example. Texas Hold'em Odds and Probabilities-Matthew Hilger OR Killer Poker by the Numbers- Tony Guerrera And Your Worst Poker Enemy-Alan Schoonmaker OR The Poker Mindset: Essential Attitudes for Poker-Matthew Hilger [/ QUOTE ] Killer Poker by the numbers definitely. It spends a lot of time working through the math so that YOU can do you own calculations. It is very thorough about dealing with hand ranges and common situations. You will learn about probability and combination math, EV calculations, and combining hand ranges with your EV calculations. This allows you to do calculation on certain scenarios that Pokerstove doesn't calc. If anything, it gives you great insight into how Pokerstove works and helps you better make use of hand ranges. As far as the second two, I'd get them both. If I absolutely had to choose, I'd probably take Poker Mindset. I couldn't put it down. While it covers a lot of "duh" topics, it does a great job of reminding us how to be professional and to set ourselves up for success. Alan's book is great as well, however, taking a different but still effective approach in helping shape your mindset. |
