Met him a couple of years ago and he was very friendly (actually too nice imo, which I am tempted to attribute to being adopted, but this isn't the psychoanalysis forum.)

I guess he won some tournies or something since then so it's possible he's become arrogant as you say, but I find it hard to believe.

I'll give you that he might be a bit of an attention whore but that's a pretty venial sin, especially these days.

Being Barry's "son" is probably enough press that he doesn't need to do more to generate attention. While he's done a few less than awesome things (sng prop bet, bashing the homey ike), I get a general vibe of a decent, fun dude from him.

No one is a bigger media whore than Hellmuth; I was sitting in the press conference when he was inducted into the WSOP hall of fame...what he talked about the most was how much money his friend makes (the guy who created the extended warranty) and how much money he makes with his cell phone game. He also wondered why Chan and Brunson weren't in attendance to watch his induction...hmmm I wonder.

Barry is probably my favorite icon in all of poker, but yeah his adopted son is on the annoying side. One, because he's better looking than I, and two, because of all the stuff you said.

I guess I'd be pretty cocky too, if I was adopted by Barry Greenstein. Hopefully his dad can mentor him on how to be classy. Well, aside from the whole faking it as a Rabbi thing. But that was hilarious.
