Foxwoods $10/$20 -- Small PP in SB vs a Possible Steal: Line Check
Sorry for the boring post, but I feel these types of situations OOP are the worst leak in my game.
I have moved to a new and had been playing about 5-6 orbits. I have noticed that the button is an uncreative, though reasonable player who is reasonably passive without the nuts; however, he is a frequent blind stealer with ATC in late position when he is to open. He seems to respect me and has yet to see me get out of line. BB is reasonably tight preflop -- not the kind to call 2 cold for the hell of it. I look down to see two red 3s in the SB . . . Folds to Button, Button raises, I insta-3bet, BB folds, Button calls. FLOP: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I lead, he calls. I am thinking bet/fold for most turns, but, given his tendencies, and the draw-heavy board, I feel I am more likely to get called than raised/folded to. With that in mind, what is my plan for: (a) Another heart (I have the 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]) (b) A card that pairs the board (c) An Ace (d) A King or Queen (e) A 7, 8, or 9 (f) A 2, 4, 5, or 6. |

Check raise the flop and lead the turn. No matter what falls. See what he does then and take it from there.
HU your pair is pretty good. Don't surrender the lead. When you check, you're just asking for villain to take the pot away from you, so don't do it here unless you are planning to c/f. Don't forget, he doesn't know what you have. You could have AA for all he knows. So play like that's what you have. If he raises your turn lead, call him down the rest of the way. bc |

Ummm................
Are we on the same page? Maybe i'm too tight but I'd 3/4 (or POT BET) bet the turn and fold if I get raised. Fold FOLD FOLD were talking about two 3's not two A's here. FOLD FOLD FOLD I don't care if your playing 10/20 its a pair of 3's and you have little invested in the flop. You don't want to end up playing for a huge flop w/ a pair of 3's. WHAT IF.........WHAT IF.......... It get out of hand it turn into a 500 dollar pot, are you prepared to puke at the end? |

[ QUOTE ] Peter: Ummm................ Bill: That's the noise "intellectuals" make when they are talking down. Peter: Maybe i'm too tight but I'd 3/4 (or POT BET) Bill: Yup. For sure. But we're playing limit here, not PL, and it's heads up. Peter: were talking about two 3's not two A's here. It's a hand good enough to show down against one player. We're playing the player not the cards. He could have AK or lots of things. [/ QUOTE ] Just my $.02 worth, Peter. bc |

keep betting until another broadway card comes up, if that happens I'd check and usually fold. looks good so far.

I think against the player described you could probably find a fold on the turn. Against a tougher or more aggressive opponent you may have to call him down.
In all situations I would bet unless an Ace came out at which time I would check-fold against most players. |

Yes but given OP villian description you need to barrell turn since he didn't raise flop.

Re: Foxwoods $10/$20 -- Small PP in SB vs a Possible Steal: Line Check
Go with your read. If he is apt to steal with any two cards, then an A, K, or even a Q on the turn should scare him more than you. You should win more than half the time against his random cards. And you have advertised a very strong hand since he doesn't know you. You may get him to open fold a small pocket pair bigger than yours and then you get to show him your 3's.
I would bet the flop as you did and then the turn regardless of what comes. If raised then I give serious thought to folding (because your opponent is uncreative and reasonable). |

[/ QUOTE ] betbetbetbetbetbetbet no matter what card comes, betting will always be at worst a tiny mistake because of how wide his range is and how much fold equity you have. also, showing this hand down after firing all three streets with bravado will hopefully slow him down in steal spots |
