Josh,
I think most likely the driver saw his car in flames and though, "Holy [censored], my car's on fire!" and then decided, "I'd better ditch this flaming car somewhere!" If you want to call him an idiot for thinking less about where he was dumping it than about getting out, that's your prerogative. Don't blame anyone else for judging you in a similar fashion. |

are you saying you would be level headed enough during "OMFG MY CAR IS ON FIRE AND I AM IN IT" to pull over, to the correct part of the free way that has less trees.
We should try this.Lets light your back seat up unbeknown to you and see what you do He can not be charged with Arson for an accident btw. Your faulting a guy for self preservation ,he had no malice intent or any blatant disregard he just dint want to die in a car fire. |

Let me try to put this in OP's terms, he might get it this way:
[ QUOTE ] Probably my last post on the subject. [/ QUOTE ] You should've stopped your burning thread right here instead of taking it up onto an embankment which is covered by various dry shrubs and posters with plenty of gas canisters. |

OP should win a "worst post to start a thread in 2007" award. Then he should win a Darwin award for arguing with every single respondent.

[ QUOTE ]
Probably my last post on the subject. So far, I have people like guids saying it makes sense, but he keeps changing his story. I have people like sooga saying self-preservation mandates that he drives in a burning vehicle. I have people like noodleman saying that because it's a stressful situation, he chose to stay in his car longer than necessary. If somebody else wants to offer an explanation that makes, ya know, some sense, I may revisit this. But hopefully tomorrow i'm done puking enough that I can avoid the web. Josh [/ QUOTE ] Not everyone in the world is a speed-chess master who can see a forced 10 move mate in 2 seconds, or an ER doc trained to make instant life-or-death decisions. Perhaps a better analogy is an airline pilot, trained to respond to various emergencies. In a panicy situations where they are not trained to react, people panic - simple as that. I think having one's car on fire qualifies. Why do you insist on reading idiocy into the driver's actions? |
