they invited Ron Paul to speak at their anniversery hoopla http://www.mises.org/upcomingstory.aspx?Id=97 I guess you can't support mises.org with the knowledge they support statists. [/ QUOTE ] I don't support The Mises Institute to the extent that they support statism, theism, or stuff like that. I do support them for most of the rest. So the idea here is that I don't worship them uncritically but that I think it's a very good resource. This is what I've said about Ron Paul previously: [ QUOTE ] I don't support Ron Paul, I do support certain things that he says: for example when he says "how would you feel if China would have military bases all over the United States?". Do you see? He's using moral arguments (argument from consistency). And those are great arguments, and those are what are going to expose the utter system of violence (and might makes right) that the state is. So, in terms of getting those ideas out there, I fully support him. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...age=0&vc=1 [/ QUOTE ] |

Never, to my knowledge, did he explain why any government service would trump socialistic calculation problems, for example. |

He definitely has a strong point in that supporting the system is only taking us a step back rather than forward. However, IMHO, and i am sure others agree, Ron Paul presents a unique opportunity. He has a reasonable enough chance of getting in there and changing a large portion of the system that overcomes the cost of our support for the system. Ron Paul has also said him self he wants to transition the system to the point where the market controls all services. |
