Example, what is worse for the GOOD player?
A 100 + 30 event with lots of starting chips(10,000) and blinds moved up every HOUR or............... A 100 + 8 event with 15 min. blind increments and very low starting chips(2000)? |

I'd take the 100+30 in your example every time. I'm more of a patient/cash game style of a player. I'd suspect a LAGgy type of a player might like the 100+8 but I'd be interested in reading some opinions.

I don't know which one is better. But if you asked me which one i would rather play in i would always choose the 100 + 30 event. First off it breaks my heart in many casino to see the ridiculous rake that they charge on so many tournaments, especially the lower buy ins, in the atlantic city area many are 100+20. i have even seen 60+20. Unfortunately most tournament run as follows, the smaller the buy in the higher percentage rake, less chips and a faster structure.
Bottom line though is, The slower the structure the more benefit for the better player as you are not forced to move as early, when you have plenty of chips it allows the players to "Play Poker" as opposed to play 3 levels of poker and then move to a shove in fest. |

I'd take the 100+8 every time. I've got mad pushbotting skillz. Variance will be higher, but the $EV of this tournament has to be better (at least higher than the -$EV of the other tournament IMO).

The 100+8 has higher $EV

I feel like if I was just going to play it once, I'd rather play the 100+30. If it was a tourney I was going to play every week, I'd play the 100+8.
