I don't think anyone said they would be ecstatic about killing a mugger.

[/ QUOTE ] I believe you are wrong. Several people said something like that. The one I originally replied to later retracted the statement, so now I think I'm just arguing with people who misunderstood what I said.

I would never kill over money.

[/ QUOTE ]

I wouldn't either, but it's not about the money.

I've had a gun to my face a couple times.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd say this is worth a story in its own thread.

You are all crazy for thinking that pulling out a gun will be safer for you than handing over your money. Sure he will kill you some very low % of the time even if you cooperate, but it's nothing compared to the danger you put yourself in when you pull out a god damned gun right in front of him.

Too bad the statistics all show exactly the opposite of what you believe.

the $100 has nothing to do with legal implications, it has to do with the fact that you might be having nighmares for the next 50 years about how you ended someones life.

[/ QUOTE ]

I would have more nightmares about how many people that scumbag might have murdered if I had the opportunity to stop him and didn't.

Haven't you seen Spider-Man??!?!?!?!

It would be nice if I had sorted and saved all the links for everything I've ever read, but I haven't. Not really interested in spending a ton of my time trying to find data to convince you either as I don't really care if you're convinced. I've been robbed at gun point twice. one of the times I really feel lucky to have made it out alive afterwards-- I had $20 bucks on me and the kid said "I should smoke you for only having 20 bux" before he took off.

Even after both of those encounters I don't feel I could kill someone over something as meaningless as money/property. I think life is just worth more than that, even if it's a depraved waste of life type person.

There are however a number of other situations where I could see myself taking someone out and and not thinking twice.

if it's kill, be killed, or be robbed, you kill. unless somehow you only have a few bucks on you, and you somehow know that you won't be killed. i'd gladly pay $100 just to NOT kill a guy. however if you're in a situation where you have no idea if he'll kill or whether you give the money or not, then you kill.

The Caribbean coast of Costa Rica is notorious for its crackheads. Kill the mofo before he and his dumb buddies whip themselves into a frenzy.
