loose passiv showndownmokey limps - me in SB -> raise or call?
at lower limits (below 3-6$):
I noticed that several time one loose passiv showdownmonkey limps and everybody folds to me in the SB. the BB is no someone I recognice as a "good" player. is it the better play to just plain call? comments & thoughts please |

There's one thing in common with all of these situations - I know my cards! Ship that cheddar! |

Re: loose passiv showndownmokey limps - me in SB -> raise or call?
yeah well, I thought about this will reading Mozart's QTo threat and I thought about just copying his hand but...
let's just make clusters: a) small 6 mid pairs b) big pairs c) non-ace boardway cards d) Ax e) any suited f) connectors I know this is much cheese but just post your thoughts about some specific situations. - with a Ax I tend to raise to knock BB out - with small pairs I also raise to get HU - with mid pairs I mix call and raise and now the trip report: - with connectors & high cards I started to just call and over a rather smallish 5k sample size I am doing pretty nice |

[/ QUOTE ] this only works with low limit predictable opponents. for example UTG 40% VPIP, 10% PFR BB any hand stove leaves you with 34% equity with 44 and with 45% with 88 since people tend to peel most flop I often want BB in the Hand with 88 but I want to be HU with 44 |

If he's a showdownmonkey I don't really see why you would like to play heads up out of position with 44.

let's just make clusters: a) small 6 mid pairs b) big pairs c) non-ace boardway cards d) Ax e) any suited f) connectors [/ QUOTE ] Equally important is BB's looseness. There is no reason to raise 66 and A6s if he calls a raise with anytwo. OTOH if he is tight and the limper is bad and loose, you should raise a lot. The blind structure is an issue as well. Assuming BB is tight, the limper is loose and the blind structure is 1/2: Raise 55, A5s, A8o, K9s, KTo, QTs, QJo, JTs, T9s. Call 22-44, any suited hand and some hands like Q9o, J8o, K8o and Axo. If the structure is 2/3 I loosen up and raise more hands. I will also call any hand I dont raise except hands like 32o and 72o. |
