Think of it this way, if you think Pacman deserves to play this year.
I'm a dad, with two sons. 3 and 6. (Totally arbitrary, as I'm not even close to being a dad, but humor me). I would like to enjoy watching a football game on Sunday with my sons, one of whom is likely to start playing youth ball in the next two years or so. Do I, as a dad, really want guys like Pacman Jones or Chris Henry to be the types of players my kids see making millions? Ignore the TO types, that's on-field cockiness, that's not "making it rain" in a Vegas titty bar or getting like 5 DUIs and still having my job, much less one in the NFL. This is the type of person who's got expendable cash to spend on jerseys, tickets, etc. And if I'm not happy, I'm keeping my kids away from your product. Edit Add: "titty" isn't censored. Cool. |

[/ QUOTE ] Welcome back Edge Agree 100%, though Pacman isn't the end all to be all of bad-behavior. He is, however, an important step in the right direction. If the NFL allows these types of things to go on, the league will get a thugish reputaion, that can seriously impact viewership. For too long the NFL has worried more about sock length then about conduct, good to see them come around. Cody |

The NFL is not being unreasonable here at all, but its stupid how they crack down on some things and let other things totally slide.

I wonder if they are planning on suspending anyone else. I mean Lenard Little killed someone when he was driving drunk, got off and then got a DUI again a couple of years later and he is still in the league.

[ QUOTE ] I agree with JoA that the procedures seem arbitrary and stupid. I think suspending PacMan for a full year is way too harsh. Is he an idiot? Of course. But his problems aren't going to have a negative effect on the league. Like bottomset said, noone is going to stop watching the NFL if they let PacMan play. PacMan will probably clean up his act somewhat. He won't become a model citizen (LDO) but losing a year's salary should knock atleast a little sense into him. Ok that's my .02, carry on. [/ QUOTE ] Incorrect. [/ QUOTE ] are you saying you wouldn't watch the NFL if pacman plays in 07, or know someone who would stop? given something like half the adults in the US follow football, some will stop but I think it will be a very very small % |

It never should have came to this. Pac-Man should have been imprisoned long ago.

The NFL has a teflon image. NBA is the league of thugs and MLB is the league of steroids despite the NFL probably having both more thugs and more cheaters.

I am all for this, good work Goodell.
maybe pacman had an example made out of him, but good. It had to happen to someone. I was [censored] sick of hearing about all the arrests and drug charges and domestic violence complaints and whatever else. suspend him for life for all I [censored] care. THINKING ABOUT BREAKING THE LAW IN THE NFL? NOT ANYMORE [censored] |
