Re: $10NL - AK in mid position
I think I would raise to 2.5$ here... some might argue that this is not enough of a raise, but if he decides to shove, then the decision of whether to call or fold is made less difficult. Assuming you don't have any reads. You have position, so in my book you definitely gotta re-raise... just not too much that it commits you to the pot.
That's how I see the hand, but more experienced players might have better advice. |

Re: $10NL - AK in mid position
Unless this guy has been getting way out of line or ultra-aggresive pre-flop, you have a standard call here.
Be more inclined to 4-bet when out of position because the hand becomes much harder to play post-flop. -Andrew |

Re: $10NL - AK in mid position
I agree with Andrew... I wouldn't 4 bet IN position... call and evaluate on flop.

Re: $10NL - AK in mid position
assuming i call his 3 bet, then the flop comes A-x-x. He bets out say 3/4 the pot (about $2.5);
What do I do? Do I push or fold? Assuming no reads on villain. |

Re: $10NL - AK in mid position
What if it was K-x-x instead ?

Re: $10NL - AK in mid position
if flop comes A-x-x or K-x-x and he leads $2.5, a shove at this point is just a standard reraise. I'd shove and be happy about it; unlikely that he'll fold a decent ace or a decent king.

Re: $10NL - AK in mid position
So there is no way to avoid AA or KK here?

Re: $10NL - AK in mid position
Why worry about two hands that beat you when there are so many more that you beat that will still come along for the ride?

So there is no way to avoid AA or KK here? [/ QUOTE ]If you are worried about that then just call the bet. If an A or K hits and he bets then decide if you want to risk your stack. You can play it fast and push or slow and try to save a few bucks. I would probably just call PF and then call any kind of PSB on the flop with an A or K. Then re-eval on the turn. |
