Pre-flop call looks a bit expensive. I'd probably fold.
River looks pretty bad. He called the turn, and the river didn't change anything. I like your line if you actually CAN beat AA. |

something very important changed on the river - the size of the bet he has to call to get his overpair to showdown

I think any 26/17 will find a call on the river here when you take this line.

JJ is going to have a hard time putting you on 77, 99 or 97.
Trying to get anyone to fold an overpair is very risky. Even a good player. Sometimes especially a good player. |

i agree that if he calls, the call is either very very good or very very bad, depending on why he called

This should mostly work, as long as you don't do it to often.

Don't like it. Lately I've been experimenting with flop raises in this spot as a sorta bluff that might not be a bluff. So far it's been working all right. I think it reps what you're trying to rep more credibly.

i like that line in retrospect. i hadnt thought the hand through when i called the flop, then i got to the turn and was like well i often have the best hand but its a good board for him to double barrel on so i'll protect-bet, and then it was obvious that he had an overpair so i figured i might as well go for the bluff.
raising the flop does better than donking the turn at doing what i wanted to do. |
