I used to have a huge library of 20 gigs but after a hard drive died, I have not tried to rebuild it since.

.wav people,

even if you are one of the "i can tell the difference" people, there are better things than .wav -- like FLAC. you can even train winamp/itunes to play them, i imagine.

what you are doing is the audio equivalent of keeping all your pictures around as BMPs. congratulations.

I was at more than 20 GB and nearly 5000 songs. However, I've recently cut that in half to around 10 GB and 2800 some odd songs.

For starters I am not a '.WAV guy', I am anti-lossy. Whether that is .WAV, FLAC, Apple lossless, whatever.

Because I like an exact copy of my music I use EAC and rip to .WAV. Space is not an issue unless I need to put a bunch of songs on like a nano or something. Then I just convert to lossless format.

About 35 GB or something like 7000 songs. I'm glad I started burning my CD's to MP3 back in college (97 or so). I don't know how I'd start from scratch like many people are doing these days when they get their first MP3 player. It's been many, many, many hours of work spread over the past 10 years.
