New Venetian Promo: 6 Max Tables with $3 max rake
According to an ad in Poker Player magazine, the V is going to start spreading 6MAX tables with $3 max rake (normal games ate 10 handed and have a $4 max rake). The ad specifically gears itself toward internet players. It also mentioned that the $3 max rake will be through April and May.
Normally, I would think that this is a recipe for disaster, but with 39 tables, they can afford to run this experiment on a couple tables with no real effect on the room. Thoughts? Edited to add full text of ad: [ QUOTE ] Virtual meets Reality Missing your online poker with its six handed table and minimal rake? Re: New Venetian Promo: 6 Max Tables with $3 max rake
Too bad the weak passives that play live ring games won't ever sit in a live 6 max game......

Re: New Venetian Promo: 6 Max Tables with $3 max rake
The Mirage tried this and failed. They even built special smaller tables which would comfortably fit exactly six players.
However, that was in late 2004/early 2005(?). It may be time to try the idea again. Though, I haven't noticed any demand for the games. |

Will never go over with the live regs. The game can be 8 handed and they all start bitching and moaning about being short handed, skateboarding on the sidewalk, and those damn punks with their rock music.

What games are they doing this with? All games and stakes?

[/ QUOTE ] QFT and another thing to add was anytime the games got 4 and 5 handed, the players were crying for rake reductions and/or getting up and missing their blinds because they didn't want to play "short" and the games kept busting up. I foresee the exact same thing happening yet again. Live short handed vs online short handed just wont work. Online those same short handed players are usually at 3+ tables, live just doesn't have the same action for them. |

it's too bad it won't work - live 10 handed play is so brutal and boring I mean I would rather be at church

I agree, I would love a regular 6 handed game, but you cant even seem to get a new game going with 6 people, let alone get them to play short on purpose.
