Peppermill Spring Tournament in Reno
I noticed that the Peppermill has a series of donkaments going on in a couple of weeks.
http://www.peppermillreno.com/gaming...ker_tournament Are these worth going to? What's the action like, compared to the cardrooms in the Bay Area and in Las Vegas? What does Peppermill's rake structure look like for their cash games? FWIW I moved to the East Bay about 6 months ago and I haven't played much live poker, although I'd like to do so. I have played a lot of 1/2 and 2/4 NL online; however, the cardrooms around here all charge $5 per pot (even if there's no flop) for 2/5 $200 spread limit which seems outrageous to me, and I don't have the skill or the bankroll to play in the big game at Lucky Chances. Is live poker better in Reno than in the Bay Area? Thanks in advance if anyone has played at the Peppermill and wants to share their experience. |

Re: Peppermill Spring Tournament in Reno
Ive never played in Reno, but I have played countless times in Tahoe poker rooms and I'm assuming they rake the same. It's much much easier to make money playing in Tahoe because the rake is much less than it is in the Bay Area. They rake $1 for every $10 IIRC with a max rake of $4, IIRC
I play 3/6 and 6/12, so I'm not sure if the rake at NL games is a timed rake. Hope this helps. |

Re: Peppermill Spring Tournament in Reno
Typically in Vegas, 2/5 NL and under are raked, so I imagine Reno is the same.

Re: Peppermill Spring Tournament in Reno
I don't know anything about the rake, but when I was up there last year during this tournament they had a good selections of games going. The tourney and the majority of cash games are held in one of their ball rooms, with the split being about 50/50 when it comes to tables set aside for each. I play limit mosttly so not sure what NL they were spreading, I think 1-2, 2-5, and they might have had a 5-10 game goin, and limit 4/8 up to 40/80. I'm thinking about playing the $1000 championship tourney this year because I'll be up there skiing that wknd. Structure seems to be better as well this year, start with 10,000 as opposed to 6,000 last year if I remember it correctly.

Re: Peppermill Spring Tournament in Reno
The tournaments are well worth coming for. There is plenty of action and range of games.
The rake is up to $4. In the 10/20 they don't take the final $1 until the pot gets to $500, which does not happen often. I assume the lower limits are the same way. The jackpots are off during the tournaments. Hope to see you there. |

Re: Peppermill Spring Tournament in Reno
Does anyone know if the Peppermill runs Sit and Go tournaments like the MGM/Bally's/Hilton/Sierra Grand/Whateveritisthisweek does douring tourney times? $110+10 10 handed pays 700 to 1st and 400 to 2nd? I'd come up just to play in those.

Re: Peppermill Spring Tournament in Reno
They did last year. I assume this year also. They pay cash, not lammers IIRC.
I'll be there all week. |

Re: Peppermill Spring Tournament in Reno
Starts tonight.
If you book a room make sure you give them the code listed on the website. (ETSPRO7) It will cut the room price in almost half. |
