How to Kill Nitty McNitterson
As the donks have been leaving and are being scared off by thinking that our favorite pastime is illegal, we've all seen the tables getting more and more nitty. It's getting tougher as just about everyone at the table now seems to have a good grasp of the game, and it's not uncommon now even at 50NL to see all 5 opponents with 20/15/3 stats.
I'm just curious what people think is the optimal strategy against the nits? You can watch a CR video and pick up how a lot of them play - good smart positional poker. I've found the following seems to work best, but am curious what other anti-nits are finding successful: - Loose calls in position - 4-betting them preflop when they 3-bet you - Lots of 2 barrel bluffs on them - Calling down light - Stop and go's (not with full stack but pot-sized bet when OOP) I know a lot of these things are situational, but you can definitely generalize the play of a 20/15 nit. And if the nits are now so numerous they're dominating the tables, optimal strategy would be to differently than them and use their play against them. Any other anti-nits out there? |

Re: How to Kill Nitty McNitterson
if there are 5 20/15/3 at table, dont play, no matter what limit.
And a 20/15/3 is not a nit, in general. That said, against true nits, just pay attention, and pick up every pot they dont seem to want. |

- Loose calls in position - 4-betting them preflop when they 3-bet you - Lots of 2 barrel bluffs on them - Calling down light - Stop and go's (not with full stack but pot-sized bet when OOP) So by "anti-nit" you mean Lagtard. |

Re: How to Kill Nitty McNitterson
ya 4 betting them preflop when they 3bet you is gonna work like once at the most dude.
nit != stupid calling down light is spew against a nit the answer you are looking for is learn to play poker and adjust to them at the table based on current situations and game textures. |

Re: How to Kill Nitty McNitterson
You have identified the recent problem quite well, but youre proposed solution ain't going to cut it. 4 bet light, yes, sometimes, bc its confusing to a nit.
Calling down against nits is suicide. Use that against Anti-nits that think youre a nit. Loose calls are also foolish. A loose raise in position may do, it just depends on precisely how chichenheartened this particular nit is, and what he's holding. To sum up, "the answer you are looking for is learn to play poker and adjust to them at the table based on current situations and game textures." |

Re: How to Kill Nitty McNitterson
Being a weak tight nit, I can tell you that I am easily confused by people who raise frequently with position. Often times I will fold middle pairs out of position to continuation bets. I also know that it is smart to fold against my raises unless you really want to play for a big pot, because if I commit to a raise, I am unlikely to be bluffing. I am often stacked when someone flops a set or two pair against my big pair, so small pairs and suited connectors are valuable if played cheaply for implied odds. As someone suggested, you probably want to pick off a lot of small pots from me with positional raises, and look to take advantage of my commitment to top pair. I hope this helps.
