Re: got hustled
even if i believed him, i'd put him on a hand with a deuce, 33 or 44. if he had an overpair or top pair why would he ever tell you that and let you make the correct decision? and if he's willing to tell you, why wouldn't he just show it?
don't trust poker players. particularly not crazy guys on tilt. |

Re: got hustled
[ QUOTE ]
You made the difficult, but correct call for all-in. Your opponent wants to make a deal, but doesn't show the hand? You think he's going to make a deal in your favor? If he has an overpair, he probably wouldn't say anything especially since you didn't insta-call the turn. Personally, I would say "no" immediately and let the cards speak. If I "had" to make a deal, then I would force him to show his cards first. He knew he was screwed to 6 outs at best and it would be to his benefit if he could retrieve $3.4K of the turn bet back. Garland [/ QUOTE ] pretty much what I thought. After you called he seems somewhat desperate to do a deal. You suspected he was FOS before. Seems weird that you would believe him at this point. |

Seems weird that you would believe him at this point. [/ QUOTE ] This is being said a lot. What seems really weird to me is that the hands were not turned up to discuss doing business. I am guessing the OP is familiar enough with NL to know that business is fairly common but not familiar enough to know exactly how it worked. |

Re: got hustled
Mike plays a TON of live poker. My guess is that he just brain-froze/got nervous about the correctness of his call and made a mistake which in the light of day he knows to be an obvious mistake.

[/ QUOTE ] That is very likely. I was just speculating about someone doing business without the hands being turned up. Also I don't know how common this sort of business is these days with the popularity of running it twice (or more). |

[ QUOTE ] Kick him in the nuts. [/ QUOTE ] i did better than that; i stayed in the game all night and morning and into the afternoon, and eventually busted him. karma's a bitch. i, however, was nevertheless a moran. [/ QUOTE ] I can't believe he didn't show a pair, that's terrible... Karma is awesome I guess |

Re: got hustled
[ QUOTE ]
I'm surprised no one has had this to say yet: You cannot take back action that has already taken place in this situation. You can make a deal to run it multiple times and split the pot, but no way should anyone be removing money from the pot. [/ QUOTE ] The sad reality is that is many clubs in LA (and LA players go to Las Vegas) this kind of deal making and worse has become common. An example of "and worse" is a deal to check it down after a third party who has put substantial money in the pot on a previous street has folded. It's so common that most players don't even blink. ~ Rick |
