NL25 | River Bluff Raise
Stats
Hands: 200ish Hero: 21/18 Villain: 20/9 Villain was not terrible. I was playing with him at another table. I had been c-betting a fair amount and villain had seen me make some thin value bets. As a result, villain has been betting into me pretty hard and made several attempts to push me off hands where I had checked or checked/called a street. In this hand, I figure villain will call flop c-bet with a decent range here. With two flush draws on the turn, his check leads me to think he doesnt have an A. On the river he leads into me for pot which is standard for him. Berate me if neccesary, and comments on all streets are welcome. Re: NL25 | River Bluff Raise
I would have been happy to call the $5.75 and hope for the best, but you've obviously got a read on this villain, and I hope you were right. I'm pretty tight, though, and there's just too much out there that beats me and might call.

Javanewt,
Given the info, are you calling the river without an A/boat??? |

Re: NL25 | River Bluff Raise
i like the size of the bluff.
however, i think heads up against an aggresive player (you) there is a very good chance villain checks flop and turn w an A hoping you will keep betting at it. and what exactly are you representing on the river that you were willing to check behind with on the turn? |

Re: NL25 | River Bluff Raise
If you think he's floating then I prefer second-barreling the turn as opposed to raising the river. A second barrel on the turn opens up the possibility of him having to call bets on two more streets an folds out many more hands. You will also find out if he has the ace immediately if he goes for a c/r.
While the river raise wins more when it works, I recon a second barrel has more EV here if you read him for floating frequently. |

Javanewt, Given the info, are you calling the river without an A/boat??? [/ QUOTE ] To be honest with you, I'd fold to the river bet. However, you are willing to risk more with your 22, and IF I were you, I'd just call instead of pushing. You might have a good read on him, and if so, you win the pot. If not, you lose a lot more by pushing. Just not worth it to me. I'm a nit noob, though. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think you may be right that even calling>raising here because his bet is generally a bluff or an ace or better. A PP or 9 will most likely ch3ck or bet a smaller amount. Since a raise won't fold out an ace ever, calling makes more sense than raising, but I don't think calling is good anyway. |

Re: NL25 | River Bluff Raise
I will add: I realize that you are "representing" the best hand with your re-raise, but too much will call you and beat you. If you really think your 22 is best, call and be happy with it. Again, I would fold.
I would have bet the turn to try to get more info. |

Re: NL25 | River Bluff Raise
Obv, I didnt think 22 was best.
I thought it would be very diffocult for villain to call without a monster. But as I said, I'm liking a turn bet more now if I want to continue with the hand. |
