decent spot for a bluff raise?
10/20 5 handed
Villain is loose preflop, reasonably aggro, but capable of folding (50/20/2.5 WtSd 32% after about 400 hands) - He seems to be steaming at me a bit because we have gotten into a couple raising wars preflop and on the flop and I called down and beat him three hands in a row (pair of fours vs ace high/ace high (queen) vs ace high (jack)/pair of nines vs pair of eights) Villain raises OTB, I defend with T7s Flop J88 (two clubs - I have diamonds) Check, Call Turn 2clubs I check, he bets, I raise |

Re: decent spot for a bluff raise?
I don't love it - especially given your read I think he is calling you down allot in this spot (with any pair, any draw to a spade, or any ace)

Re: decent spot for a bluff raise?
I don't particularly like it. Feel free to c/r the flop if you think he'll give up when he has air, otherwise this isn't the best way to try and take money from a lagtard.

Re: decent spot for a bluff raise?
1) Those flops are my least favorite to bluff. Nobody every believes anything.
2) 3 flush turn cards are also my least favorite to bluff. Say he has AcX, he has to call this bet and then you have to bet the river again. He might peel with any decent club here. generally, draw heavy board are my least favorite to bluff on because villain can make a bunch of excuses to call. This is my default, not for everybody. |

Re: decent spot for a bluff raise?
yeah i didn't know if my read was making him more likely to be like "[censored] - call call call" or like "[censored] beat again, fold". i don't think he is ever folding to a flop c/r here
FWIW he called, i fired again on the river and he called with king high no flush draw, which always does wonder for morale. I just hate peeling flop then C/F turn when I know he's betting anything and there's a decent possibility I have ten outs. |

Re: decent spot for a bluff raise?
This is a bad spot for a bluff raise.
If called, all you have is a bunch of dirty outs to fall back on. You have no idea which them are good and that'll lead to many tough river decisions where it'll easy for you to make misstakes. You'll also have to bet the river if a blank comes since he'll call the turn with any club in his hand. Investing 3BB to try to steal the pot with a very marginal draw is too expensive and not a profitable play. As others also have pointed out, your checkraise is not very beleiveble. He would expect you to raise the flop with an eight or a flush draw and online players are good at finding excuses to call down. |

If he's feeling run over by you, he may stay and fight.
