Power Supply w/ 7600 gt video card
I'm looking at this 7600 gt video card for my Athlon 64 3500+. My current factory power supply is rated at 300 watts. Can I use it with this card or is an upgrade absolutely necessary? What happens if I install the card to try it out and see what happens, will this damage anything?

Re: Power Supply w/ 7600 gt video card
worst case scenario it'd be too much strain on your PS and blow it. I'd say no risk since weather it works or blows the PS either way you need a new PS....and there's a chance you won't need it since you're not pushing that card (via 3D gaming)

Thanks Bipolar, that's the answer I was looking for. I'll report back if something bad happens.

[ QUOTE ]
scotch, you may also want to check out this thread where BPN and I tagteamed almost the same exact question. good luck. /gold [/ QUOTE ] I remember that thread and although I didn't re-check it, I just assumed it was the same OP re-asking that portion of his question. I guess it wasn't lol. Good thing I re-read the other one tho....I think I gave Stuey credit for a Sam avatar modification....bumped the other thread w/ a correction. |
