Turn decision vs. tricky player.
Table was pretty loose, but I had some notes on villain being pretty tricky. That's why I wasn't sure about my turn decision. I didn't like a b/c or a b/f, but I didn't really like a check either. What would you do?
Hero [Jc, Jh] *** Bet Round 1 *** Hero Raise to 10.00 CO Fold BTN Fold SB Call 10.00 BB Call 10.00 *** Flop(Board): *** : [10c, 4d, Kd] *** Bet Round 2 *** SB Check BB Check Hero Bet 5.00 SB Call 5.00 BB Fold *** Turn(Board): *** : [10c, 4d, Kd, 2d] *** Bet Round 3 *** SB Check Hero ???? |

Re: Turn decision vs. tricky player.
Against a tricky player, I check here and call his river bet (and bet if he checks the river)

Re: Turn decision vs. tricky player.
b/f and C then Call river aren't too far apart. Depending on limit the turn semi-bluff c/r may not be a big concern. I don't see a problem with a b/f.

Re: Turn decision vs. tricky player.
Because there's only 4 bets in the pot, and tricky implies significant shot-taking ability, I think checking has to be pretty good.

Re: Turn decision vs. tricky player.
This depends a lot on your table image. If you have been folding a lot to c/r on the turn with a broadway board than you want to get to showdown.
If he is behind he has 3-15 outs against you and I think for that reason I would bet and calldown any non diamond non queen non ace river. If he has a king good for him I pay him off. If your read is correct he is going to be semi-bluffing too frequently here and b/c c river will be profitable for you. |

I didn't like a b/c or a b/f, but I didn't really like a check either. [/ QUOTE ] We have to bet this turn. Checking would be bad. Your opponent hasn't shown aggression and you don't know where you're at. The pot is small so b/f isn't that bad, but you have this note that the guy is tricky. Does that mean he's slowplaying TP or a flush, or does it mean he's going to pop you on the turn with 2nd pair (or worse) and a scary turn card? "pretty tricky" is not a good note. [ QUOTE ] What would you do? [/ QUOTE ] With the information you provide, I probably b/c this turn and make a crying call on a non [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] river. Then I make a proper note about the guy. Might as well since I just paid for the info. Moral of my post: take better notes. |

Re: Turn decision vs. tricky player.
Tricky means he's capable of check/raising turns with all sorts of hands, giving me a hard decision here.

Re: Turn decision vs. tricky player.
I like a check behind and calling a river bet. However giving a free [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] would be sorta terrible so b/call with your read. B/f seems too weak with the strength of your hand because you might get him to c/r something like A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T where you still have him beat on the turn.

Re: Turn decision vs. tricky player.
Only one opponent left and he hasn't shown any strength yet, I think you have to grit your teeth and bet. If raised, I'd factor in Villains recent play and my own table image to decide if I should call, but it sounds like you might have to against this guy.
