100nl rr pot, qq line check plus interesting river bluff
Please check my thought process and tell me if/what you would play differently on each street.
Reads: villain is a regular at stars 100nl with normal tag stats. Poker Stars No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.50/$1 5 players Converter Stack sizes: Hero: $99.15 CO: $99.70 Button: $82.55 SB: $82.60 BB: $106.55 Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is UTG with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero raises to $4, CO raises to $13, 3 folds, Hero calls. He RR'ed my utg pfr, I think a 4bet would be a spewing but I obv can't fold. Can't raise, can't fold, so I call. Flop: 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($27.5, 2 players) Hero bets $21, CO calls. Good flop. C/C and C/R seem like bad ideas since I still gain no more info on villain's range until it's too late. Based on preflop action, I put him on JJ-AA/AK. If I bet out strong and he calls, I figure I can rule out AK, since this is a super dry board. So I do just that, and he calls. Now he can only have JJ-AA. I beat JJ, tie QQ, lose to KK/AA. But I figure he would reraise more often than not with KK/AA in that spot, so I'm going to weight his range 50/50 JJ vs AA/KK rather than 33/66. Turn: A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($69.5, 2 players) Hero is all-in $65.15 Best card in the world for me aside from the Q. He's less likely to have AA now, and if he has KK I can bluff him out of the pot. I have just enough left for a PSB and I figure if I make it, he has to either put me on AK or a flopped set. Against a fish I wouldn't make these assumptions but this guy, like I said, is a regular, and is capable of using his brain. |

If you can fold on the flop to a raise than I guess leading is ok...
but I check-raise that [censored] all day. |

Re: 100nl rr pot, qq line check plus interesting river bluff
Paul,
AA - 6 KK - 6 QQ - 1 JJ - 6 TT - 3 (6, but I think it's a less likely to be in his range so I'll give it 3 combos instead of 6) AK - 16 So basically we are ahead twice as often as we are behind, yeah? A CR doesn't seem so bad. But does the fact that he's a regular and he's reraising my UTG raise change that enough to make this line not as appealing? |

I guess I didn't consider the extra value I extract from him if he has AK if I go with the CRAI line.

[/ QUOTE ] like you say, we're ahead here way more than we're behind and he'll continuation bet this alot. I think you're range is just about right, given that you raised utg. what was your plan on the turn if a blank fell? also if i don't 4-bet preflop with AK, than I'm liable to check-raise it all-in as well to balance my play. |

I asked Tien about a similar hand and he suggested 4bet preflop made this easier to play postflop - I assume you and he 3bet each other as std at NL100.

Alright, to help me internalize the 4bet line... Assuming we 4bet preflop and he calls, what choices do we have post flop? What are your lines?
1) undercard flop 2) A high flop 3) K high flop Then, what if he 5bets all in preflop? |

[/ QUOTE ] people with 100bb stacks almost never flatcall a 4bet, its going to be obvious to anyone with 1/3 of a brain that its push/fold, and if he shoves you have to call. |
