I guess Doyle Brunson is a semi-donk,according to super system it is ok to be a donk in the right situations :P

[/ QUOTE ]

Eggzactly. On the Travel Channel two poker commentators who shall remain nameless complement known players but berate unknown players when donk moves are made. I guess being a donk is relative to situations and personas...

He was absolutely correct, and I hope you are a little ashamed for berating him.

Um sorry to be so dim but what exactly does donkey mean and what is the difference between a donkey and a fish? Thanks

[/ QUOTE ]

A fish basically overvalues his hands. He plays weak values and makes calls when he should fold, hoping his 2nd pair is good for instance. A donkey on the other hand makes plays that are obviously mathematically incorrect like calling with an inside straight draw only getting 3:1 (talking limit here). At least that's my definition for it.

Losing to a fish happens every once in a while, but losing to a donkey hurts (although it shouldn't).

I would say that you can't get mad when someone calls your bluff...if you are betting and raising a flush draw, you are semi-bluffing...you get what you get in that scenario...when the turn makes the flush draw pretty worthless, you are now full-bluffing...you can't berate someone for calling your bluff...that was a strong, gutsy call on his part...I will agree that it wasn't necessarily bright on his part to call a bluff without even having a high card, but you can never berate someone for catching you on a bluff...my opinion anyway.

A fish is any member of the class Chondrichthyes or Osteichthyes, aquatic vertebrates which breathe through gills.

A donkey is in individual of species Equus asinus, an animal similar to a horse, but smaller and with longer ears.

In poker terms, a donkey, fish, donator, sucker or live one is somebody with little understanding of the game who can be counted on to give a skilled player lots of money.

An aside if you are looking for donkeys - visit a cruise ship casino. A guy wanted to split 5s during a hand in blackjack with the dealer showing a 9!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

And this differs from a casino on land how?
