Default Prison for Lederer, other owners of poker sites?

Howard Lederer and others who own poker sites must be crapping in their pants right now at the prospect of going to prison if they continue to accept the action of U.S. players after Bush signs the bill into law. Those people will need to shut off their sites to American players if they value their health and well-being.

I understand many pro players own stakes in poker sites. I can't think of any who would be able to defend themselves well if they have to engage in shower stall combat!

LOL.

I still havent seen anything that shows Lederer actually owns any part of the actual FTP poker site. Lots of claims, but nothing convincing.

Being a spokesperson is not the same as being an owner or director.

AFAIK the full tilt pros own stakes in Tiltware the company that makes the software. They have no ownership stake in Full Tilt itself

They don't own full tilt, they own the company that makes the Full Tilt software.

If I were a pro and received compensation like WCOOP buy-ins I'd be pretty scared right now.

I'd be interested in knowing the organizational structure of Full Tilt and its affilites. If Howard and the gang get paid based on revenues or income earned by the poker operations, and the shareholder(s) who own Fult Tilt itself don't really control the operations, those poker pros may find themselves neck deep in trouble if the government believes the ownership structure is a subterfuge designed to evade the law.

Especially if the government decides to go after a high profile group to make an example of them for everyone else. The government loves to do that.

Even if people who operate gambling sites live outside the U.S., they still have to worry about the U.S. government having them extradited to the U.S.

Why else do you think Ruth Parasol had Party Poker announce that it would stop doing business in the U.S.?

From what I can tell, running an offshore poker site is no more illegal after the bill is signed than it is last Thursday.

The bill specificly forbids the transaction towards the gambling site. Therefore, if anyone stands a chance at going to jail, it's the bank's officers.
