Re: Weirdest JJ I\'ve played in a while
call preflop is alright, if it'll get BB to stick around with a worse hand and pay you off more. generally though, I think reraising here is better.
flop, i prefer a lead of about 1/3-1/2 shorty's stack (if thats a reasonable amount) so that BB can call that, shorty pushes, and you can come back over the top to push out BB and take his dead moneys. turn... i guess theres not much else you can do. river is fine. he'll often fold, and if he doesnt thats cool. |

[/ QUOTE ] ya that sounds really sweet if it works. my line of choice would be to openpush and have BB call with 23off and shorty instacall with 44. |

Why didn't you reraise pf to get it all in with shorty? [/ QUOTE ] I agree that's the default play. In this case, I decided to call, because I was under the impression that shorty was very tight. I didn't feel like I had a very +EV situation shoving against his range (though it's certainly slightly +EV at worst). I decided to call and see the flop, where I might get him to shove or pay off with much less equity. I didn't have a ton of hands on him, but his pfr was 9. I figured that for opening UTG, he'd be tighter than that. How do people feel about that thinking? As far as MDMA's comment that my river bet was too small, I felt like it painted the picture of a Q, without risking my whole stack on the off chance the BB held a Q. I don't think most people fold for a pot bet ever, whereas double-pot bets in small pots are rarely bluffs, it seems. I think I'd usually bet the pot or shove if I did have a Q, unless someone had seen one of my 2 x pot bluffs get caught. Anyway, the BB actually held QT and of course called. Funny that playing this hand differently at many different points would've alternately led me to win a small pot, chop with the shorty, or lose my whole stack (if me and the BB played fast on the flop). Then, I also could've easily lost practically nothing, instead of 400. Thanks for the comments; feel free to add anything else. |

[/ QUOTE ] Party has continuous shuffle, so the next cards would have been different if you'd taken a different line, and hence you probably wouldn't have lost a big pot too often against QT. |

Re: Weirdest JJ I\'ve played in a while
I'd reraise pre flop. Post flop, I'd lead flop for $90 to whipsaw BB and evade a check behind from shorty.
