Most Disappointing Wrestling Matches
Inspired by the Greatest Match of All Time thread:
Which match do you feel ended up flopping the worst in the ring? Think of matches that should have been great, like they had an awesome buildup, awesome story behind it, or had great performers in the ring, but the match ended up being horrible. Mine would be: From the WWF - Undertaker vs. Big Bossman Hell in a Cell match from Wrestlemania XV. There was a tremendous buildup behind this match as well as a great storyline, but this match ended up sucking hard. Both performers seemed to give total half-ass performances in this flop. From the WCW - Sting vs. Bret Hart from Halloween Havoc '98 or '99. This match should have been awesome, as the feud between the two was excellent and they both had great characters, but this match ended up being horribly disappointing, due to [censored] booking from the WCW. |

Re: Most Disappointing Wrestling Matches
Judgement Day 2006 - Kane vs. Imposter Kane
Weird build-up, lackluster match, end of feud was stupid Royal Rumble 2003 - Scott Steiner vs. HHH for the World Title Steiner was built up huge in the feud, the match was awful and booed the entire time. |

Re: Most Disappointing Wrestling Matches
I think the real question is why-after all evidence to the contrary-would the discerning wrestling fan expect any match to be as good as the hype is.
Also, I suppose I pretty much agree with every match here but I can't say that any of them were "disappointing" per se. |

Re: Most Disappointing Wrestling Matches
Not that they were talented wrestlers or anything, but I remember being really disappointed when Yokozuna defended his title against Lex Luger. Luger hit him with the elbow and knocked him out of the ring.....Yokozuna got counted out and Lex just let this happen, knowing full well that the title can't change hands on a countout. I remember being so disappointed and confused as to why he would let this happen.

Re: Most Disappointing Wrestling Matches
Wrestlemania X. Bret gets Yokozuna in the Sharpshooter, Mr. Fuji hits him with the powder, Bret ends up losing the title.
This was disappointing, but not nearly as bad as Hogan running in and squashing Yoko right after. Killed Yoko's heat and reeked of backstage [censored]. |

Re: Most Disappointing Wrestling Matches
That was WM 9 ClassicBob. WMX was Luger v Yoko and then Yoko v Bret at the end.
Goldberg-Nash at Starcade. Horrible, nice way to kill your #1 draw forever. Nash v Hogan. Title is now a joke, nWo re-re-re-reforms. Goldberg is made a bigger joke. Khali-Undertaker. The entire fued. I thought WWE would stop hiring talentless hosses, I was wrong. |

I like Hogan a lot watching him on his VH1 show, and I can't discount his influence on pro wrestling, but damn how I hated how he always had to be put over oftentimes at the expense of the company as a whole. |
