Default Really weird leg cramp attacks at night

So for about three years now every, I don't know, once a month or so, I wake up in the middle of the night with a leg cramp that hurts like hell (it's the pain that wakes me up). It's like my entire leg muscle gets as tight as it possibly can and feels like it's going to pop out of my leg. It usually only lasts 30 seconds ago and subsides to the point that it's tight, but it isn't painful. Last night, though, it lasted a good two minutes (I really freaked my wife out shooting out of bed and grabbing my leg). Today, it's still kind of cramped up. Anyone ever have anything similar, or know what the hell this is?

Whenever I get that problem, it's usually due to dehydration (noting it usually happens after hard workouts or if I've been drinking and golfing all day in the 115 degree heat). Compare those times to what you've been doing the day/hours before.

It's also possible you could be catching teh gay. Good luck.

Yeah, this happened to me last summer when I worked outside on a really hot day and didn't drink enough water.

Are you a teenager? Sounds like growing pains to me. I went through them from about ages 14-17.

If you immediately jump out of bed and stand on the leg that is in pain, it will go away much quicker.

I used to get that regularly, wake up, awful pain that feels like the muscles are folding inside out and end up trying to stomp or massage it out. A friend of mine recommended calcium/magnesium suppliments. Haven't had any problems in several years. I just assumed it was a vitamin deficiency.

Has happened to me before a few times as well. Mostly when I was on vacation and most likely dehydrated from walking around all day. I got it a couple of times in the front on my shin and those were extremely painful

Why would you take a product that would GIVE you leg cramps? That seems kind of backwards. Maybe it's the male athlete equivalent of a rufi.

I'm married. I guess that could make me 17 (in some places), but no, I'm 25. I've heard this from people I've asked too. What the hell causes growing pains anyway?
