Default DVD/laptop/TV

When travelling I would like to use my laptop to play DVD's (poker, no porn!) and watch them on hotel TV's. I notice most newer TV's have jacks located on the front.

How can I do this so I get normal picture and sound?

Thanks

Does your laptop have a video-out jack?

If so, then you'll need the appropriate cable (S-Video or Composite) along with a headphone-to-RCA (audio) cable.

Thanks. It does have video-out, and I have an "S-Video to Composite RCA Adapter Cable". I hooked that up to a TV but nothing happened; no picture, sound, etc. What else do I need?

Thanks for your help.

Assuming your video card is capable, you'll have to configure some things in your video settings to get this to work. It would help if you gave the make of your video card, and the model while you're at it. This will determine the procedure to configure your driver settings.

Ok thanks, I'll have to find out. It's an IBM ThinkPad R40, and I believe the video card is an ATI, but I will have to verify the make/model.
