I've heard people say that you should change the database format to MySQL. Why? And how do I do this?
Thanks |

The reason to do this is that Poker Office is running a lot faster after this change, especially when you have a big database. Here's a good guide (it's not complicated at all); http://www.pokeroffice.com/forum/pos...=13&page=1
If you run into any difficulties I'll try to be of assistance. |

FYI- mySql is an open source industrial grade database. It is used by major companies and organizaions in some very large applications (terabytes). The fact that we can get it up and running with Poker Office so easily is a tribute to mySql's designer and all the programmers who worked on it for free. It is scalable so a user can get it to do more and run faster by increasing resources. I haven't worked much with it much but have worked with some of it's commercial counterparts like Oracle, Microsoft, and Sybase. Since mySql is open source, the database is free which makes it an attractive choice for many especially for web applications. In theory. if things get too slow you should be able to "tune" the database to increase performance.

Have you noticed it runs faster? [/ QUOTE ] I don't exactly have a huge database but yeah it seems to run faster. Especially when I'm running the live tracker. |

How big databases do you guys have?
I make bakups of 50K hands chunks because i feel that performance is going down. I use MySQL. It would be nice to just keep the same database forever... |

My last computer went crazy and I lost everything on it so I've only got like 30k hands in my database. I had about 70k in the old one and that worked fine as well.

How many tables do you play? How many stats do you show in the overlay?
