99 way to beat lags
opponent is a lag regular. He wins a lot because he has a very very laggy style and disregard for money that lets him run over weak players. He knows im very tag. He's also a good handreader. He's pushed me off AQo high with a flush draw before, so its time to win more of his moneys.
15-30 B&M Preflop: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] folded to me in mp 1. I raise, lag in mp2 cold calls, everyone else folds. Flop: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] k [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet, he raises, 3bet, he calls. now I just pray that he doesnt hit his flushdraw on the turn Turn: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I bet, he raises, I call Hmm, maybe a last ditch effort vs a full house? Anyways, seems like call down time River: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I check, he bets, I RAZE, he calls. Ship it to the hero, villain mucks. |

Re: 99 way to beat lags
I think Id rather call down after his flop raise rather than 3bet. What do you do if he caps the flop? I would be trying to get to showdown more than anything against this guy.

even lags get dealt AKo [/ QUOTE ] But they don't fold top full house when they have AK - ever. |

Re: 99 way to beat lags
The chance that he has a king is very slim. Heres why:
- if he has a king I get raised on the turn, not the flop. That way, he gets extra money from me from my very likely turn bet. - if he has some faces I get 3bet preflop - if he has suited connectors I get CC'ed preflop also, we both know that there is no chance that I have a seven, so if he really did have a king, I would expect to get 3bet on the river since at that point he beats my entire range barring pocket kings, pocket aces, or pocket 9s. - if he caps the flop I call down |

Re: 99 way to beat lags
But they will usually 3-bet preflop with it. But it's indeed possible he has a king, probably more so than less LAGgy players who, preflop, would normally either 3-bet with A-K or K-K or fold most other holdings that included a king.

Re: 99 way to beat lags
Seems like a good river to bet- 3bet because he can't help raising a K if he has one, and if he doesn't he *should* check behind any non-K hand that he would also call your checkraise with (not that this specific player will but we don't know that with certainty).

Re: 99 way to beat lags
I'm happy to hear that you won the pot.
In light of the river action it seems unlikely that he had a king (a lag will usually reraise with a king). How do you feel about a seat change so as to put the lag on your right? Jim |

Re: 99 way to beat lags
I really dont like the seat change idea since I had 3 lps on my right; plus, I was right in the middle of the table facing the dealer which is the beez knees
