Senator\'s Response to Letter on Internet Gambling Act
FYI.....Here is Senator Vitter's response to the form email I sent opposing the proposed legislation.
Dear Mr. *********, Thank you for contacting me in opposition to legislation that will prohibit online gambling. I appreciate hearing your concerns on this important issue. As you may know, the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act has been introduced to update regulations governing Internet gambling. These regulations would prohibit players from placing online bets with credit cards, electronic transfers, and checks. Much of this legislation is also targeted at preventing Internet gambling from being used for money laundering. While I understand your concerns about this legislation, state attorneys general, professional and amateur sports leagues, and the Department of Justice all agree that some federal legislation is needed to clarify federal law that Internet gambling businesses are illegal. The anonymity of internet gambling can provide a haven for criminals. I am also concerned that there are currently no mechanisms in place to prevent children - who make up the largest percentage of Internet users - from using their parents' credit card numbers to register and set up accounts for use at Internet gambling sites. I have consistently opposed gambling, and I believe this legislation is needed to address the explosive growth in Internet gambling. Although we may disagree on this particular issue, I sincerely appreciate hearing your opinion. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about other issues important to you. Sincerely, Senator David Vitter United States Senator P.S. Please visit my webiste to sign up for E-Updates and receive regular email updates from me on the issues important to Louisiana families. |

[/ QUOTE ] That statement has always seemed like a joke to me. There is currently no (effective) mechanism in place to prevent children from watching porn or purchasing alcohol using a parent’s credit card. I wonder what your senator thinks of that? |

Your logical retort has no place in American politics.

That statement has always seemed like a joke to me. There is currently no (effective) mechanism in place to prevent children from watching porn [/ QUOTE ] This really really bugs me. Its unbelievably easy for a child to get on to porn sites on the internet. Some are pay sites, and they could use their parents credit card for that. In addition, i bet online porn has ruined many many more adult lives than internet gambling. I really have no idea, but how much criminal activity goes on over gambling sites? Is it really a huge way for people to launder money or whatever else. Is it a bigger problem than probably thousands of low budget porn makers around the country that use 18 year old girls who are desperate for money? Also could someone explain to me why this is legal while prostitution is not? I really see little diffrence. I guess my point is, how can playing a card game on the internet become illegal, while pornography online is perfectly acceptable? |

Re: Senator\'s Response to Letter on Internet Gambling Act
As a resident of the great state, I may assure you that there is no more useless human being on the planet than Senator David Vitter. Might as well try to teach a pig to sing. Come to think of it, considering the rumors about his sex life, it's probably exactly like teaching a pig to sing.

My friend, if you think Senator Vitter objects to prostitution, you have the wrong senator. It is widely known around the state that he has a baby by a prostitute.

Maybe we should pass a law requiring people to parent their children. |

Re: Senator\'s Response to Letter on Internet Gambling Act
How exactly do children make up the largest percentage of internet users??????????
Seems like there should be a whole lot more 18+ than 18 and under. Probably one of those biased statistics. |
