Default dumb Hustler rake question

How does it work? Placard at the 2/4 table says, iirc, "7-9 players: $3, 5-6 players: $2, 2-4: $1". Is that based on the number of players in the hand? Or the number that see the flop?

I think it means # of players dealt a hand.

Thanks. How does that affect strategy at the low limits? On the rare occasions when only 2 or 3 see the flop, the rake can be a huge percentage of the pot.

That's why most people chop when it's folded to the blinds. When only 2 see the flop, and $4 goes down the drop, there's nothing to win.

If there's no flop at Hustler, they only drop $1.

So basically, either chop when it's just the blinds, or steal blinds by raising on the button. The latter is virtually impossible there, because most players defend with absolutely any two cards. "I'm halfway in, I have to call!"

Play at loose, calling station or LAG filled tables, not at the oft advocated soft tables. Tricky and imaginative play kicks ass in tournaments, not at So Cal low limit games. Change tables if your table sucks.
