[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Perhaps this will explain: http://youtube.com/watch?v=QTOAo15kMgA [/ QUOTE ] http://youtube.com/watch?v=ysRwGSC-ZeI [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Amsterdam would be nothing special if it wasnt for the underage illegal whores brought here by human traffickers, promising them jobs as nannies. [/ QUOTE ] i was just reading an article about human trafficking in the New York Review of Books and it claimed that Amsterdam was one of the few places where prostitutes aren't coerced by traffickers and exploited. do you have any info about this/links that claim otherwise? [/ QUOTE ] There have been several reports here in the Netherlands (from f.ex. the Amsterdam University) that about 80% of the prostitutes in Amsterdam are being forced, most of them are foreigner. It's common knowledge in the Netherlands. [ QUOTE ] Human trafficking The Netherlands is a primary country of destination for victims of human trafficking. Many of these are led to believe by organized criminals that they are being offered work in hotels or restaurants or in child care and are forced into prostitution with the threat or actual use of violence. Estimates of the number of victims vary from 1000 to 7000 on a yearly basis.[8] The victims mainly originate from the Netherlands, Africa and Eastern Europe, particularly from the Balkans and the former Soviet Union. Most police investigations on human trafficking concern legal sex businesses. All sectors of prostitution are well represented in these investigations, but particularly the window brothels are overrepresented [/ QUOTE ] Great links on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostit...he_Netherlands I found some links in English: http://gvnet.com/humantrafficking/Netherlands.htm http://www.iamsterdam.com/introducin...s/prostitution Links: (all in dutch) http://www.debalie.nl/artikel.jsp?po...rticleid=44036 http://kris2.punt.nl/index.php?id=29..._archief=& http://www.volkskrant.nl/binnenland/..._onderdrukking |

Re: Phil Ivey - what was going on in Amsterdam
I flew out of Amsterdam's Schipol airport this summer so spent a night there and did a brief tour of the Red Light district. The hookers looked to be of decent quality, looks-wise, though I didn't sample the merchandise. For some reason, banging a hooker who's probably had 5 other guys sweating on her that same day never appealed to me.
I was impressed with Dutch tv in the motel- there was actual hard, hard core porn at the freaking Best Western motel that you didn't have to pay extra for, there were call in sex shows on regular Dutch tv, and they don't even dub the tv programs and movies from the US- just Dutch subtitles at the bottom. No wonder everyone speaks English so well there- there's almost as much English spoken on their tv as here. And the Dutch have their sh*t together when it comes to airport security- it was much tighter on the return flight to the US than it was on the way over. They give everyone a personal interview/interrogation prior to flying and they gave the Arabs on my flight particular attention, including having a second person approach them later to ask the same questions again and compare the answers. Everybody got frisked as well, though the Arabs got a more thorough one. Didn't jive with my impression of the Dutch as being hyper-politically correct people at all. And oh yeah - there's a casino in the airport, though the poker tables weren't active, just blackjack. The Netherlands definitely seemed cool to me on my quick impression. |

[/ QUOTE ] The Dutch are in no way a "politically correct people"; actually much the opposite. Yes, the Netherlands is "cool"; places like Gronigen and Den Haag are amazing and about 1/2 the price of Amsterdam. www.mushmemoirs.blogspot.com |

The Blackjack-table sucks, dealer wins when you should push. |
