Default PokerTracker Dependency?

Does anyone who plays predominately online and avails themselves to PokerTracker feel that they have become so dependent upon it that when they play at a live card room they don't trust their hand reading ability?

I think a lot of people would do well to cut back on their dependency to PokerTracker. It can impede your progress as a player

I disagree. PT simply makes your reads more specific and allows you to play against more opponents (it would otherwise be difficult to have reads on everyone if you're 4-tabling). In a typical game of hold'em, you may, out of natural read ability, note someone's aggressiveness and preflop standards. Your skills, however, will never be good enough to know exactly how loose your opponent is preflop, and how aggressive he/she is on each street. The kind of reads that PT does NOT give you (for example, how an opponent played his AA) are ones you should be picking up on with or without PT.

I can't see how an extra tool would hurt your natural ability, unless you simply, absent-mindedly play poker without even considering your opponents. In that case, I'd expect you to not be a great player with or without PT.

This seems like a pretty plausible argument for those in the "Ban PokerTracker and HUDs" crowd, which I think I'm beginning to agree with

Unless I was 4-tabling live, no.

PT helps those of us who 4-table and want an "insta-read" of a player.

Live players can examine each individual more because there are fewer hands/hour.

Any kind of crutch in anything in life can impede your progress. It can also help your progress.

It's just like reading a 2+2 book. Some will take what the book says, apply it to their game correctly and do well while others will apply it to their game incorrectly and it will hurt them.

Seconded. I 8-table 6-max just fine with/without the use of HUDs.
