Choosing a Registered Massage Therapist: Man or Woman?
For those of you who have gone to registered massage therapists (no, not the rub and tug kind), which sex do you prefer or does it matter?

Re: Choosing a Registered Massage Therapist: Man or Woman?
i've had three pro massages in my lifetime. two from women, one from a man.
first one was from a very strong woman and she was wonderous, i would've married her on the spot. second one i wasn't paying so i said 'whatever, it doesn't matter' - even though hands are hands and my eyes were closed the whole time it still mattered. muscles felt just as good but not my pride. call it a culturally/socially ingrained thing or call me a homophobe, but i like a lady's hands to rub me instead of men's. needless to say, next time i asked for a woman. |

Woman.
I've had 3 or 4 - all women. I wondered whther they were strong enough to really work the muscles - they are. I think some of them even get on the table to get extra leverage if they need to. |

Re: Choosing a Registered Massage Therapist: Man or Woman?
Ya a few years ago I went to the sports massage clinic at my university and set up an appointment. The guy told me that so man would be massaging me and I politely asked if I could have a woman instead and he snapped at me. I can't remember the exact words that he said but it was along the lines of: "This is not a whorehouse so it doesn't matter if a guy massages you."
I did not show up to my appointment. I'm just not sure if asking for a woman is "rude" or not. |

Re: Choosing a Registered Massage Therapist: Man or Woman?
I've only gotten a massage twice, but both times they asked me what I wanted.
That said, the first time they didn't have a woman available when I wanted it anyway, so I just took a guy and it was fine. |

I'm just not sure if asking for a woman is "rude" or not. [/ QUOTE ] at a sports med clinic the rules may be different since they are concerned w/ rehabbing injuries instead of making a customer feel good/de-stress. at a spa or massage specialist joint they ask you if you have a preference, and from here on out my response will be 'yes, female please' [/ QUOTE ] Even if you have no problem with getting a massage from a man, I don't see how any straight man wouldn't "prefer" a woman. [/ QUOTE ] bingo. |
