Ever tell your father that you love him?

I'm Irish-German, born in the midwest, which means I'm about as emotionally warm as a block of ice. When my dad got lung cancer (smoked 2 packs of Camels a day, like almost his entire generational peer group) I flew to Dallas from Chicago as much as I could, took him to chemo, spent a lot of time with him. Last trip down, we both knew it was going to be the last time I saw him, and we just more or less hung out at his house, watching TV. Never told him I loved him, knew he knew I did, but couldn't say it.

Anyway.....

Seems about right, back when I was in the Marines and got shot at on occasion. Probably been 15 years or so now. No reason too really. You know. He knows.

Just about everyday. It's how we end our phone conversations and I wouldn't want it any other way.

my advice to those with Dad's? Say it if you're not.

Say it more often if you do.
