River action - 3/6 (6 Max) Party
New to the table, no reads as of yet. Dont have the hand history, so I'll do this one from memory. $620 stacks.
Get A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in the SB, folds to Button, who open-limps. I raise to 30, BB folds, Button calls. Flop J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Pot = $66 I bet $60, he calls. Turn J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Pot = $186 I bet $150, he calls. River J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Pot = $486. I have about $380 left. Hero ?????? Thanks D |

Re: River action - 3/6 (6 Max) Party
Looks like he's drawing to a flush (with a J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]). Value bet $200 and hope he didnt 2pr. Reluctantly call a push?

Re: River action - 3/6 (6 Max) Party
First thing is first: check. You don't have enough left for a blocking bet, and unless he's an idiot, he doesn't call with something you beat.
I'm not sure what to do when he bets (assuming he puts you in). It definitely depends on how aggressive on the river he is, but more importantly, what kinds of hands he open limps from the button. Any reads in those regards? [ QUOTE ] Looks like he's drawing to a flush (with a J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]). Value bet $200 and hope he didnt 2pr. Reluctantly call a push? [/ QUOTE ] Think he'll call a bet with a naked jack? If you bet $200 and he pushes, you're getting 886-to-180 = less than 5-to-1. I don't see anyone bluffing almost ever in that spot, so I'd fold. I think that is the primary reason a less than all-in bet is bad. But all-in bet will definitely only get called by a better hand. Edit: ohh, and happy registration anniversary Sensei |

i dont think a push here is too bad. even if he does call and beat you, it protects 3 barrel bluffs in the future.

[/ QUOTE ] I would be more conerned about this if villian was a regular, but I have never seen him before, so I'm not sure if there are meta-game concerns here. That said, an all-in still may be the best play. D |

[/ QUOTE ] I think it's more important that he will usually check all worse hands behind but will bet most better (and sometimes bluff [though so infrequently that I don't like check/calling]). |
