Default The drive from LA to LV...

thinking about hitting LA before going to vegas for the entire summer, was planning on driving with some friends. What are the best/worst times to do this drive? Anything exciting to see on the way? Anything I should know? Thanks.

I do it b/w midnight and 6am

reason is there is tons of traffic at the 15/215 split, will cost you usually an extra hour or more depending upon the congestion

We've driven as late as 11pm and hit this traffic at midnight but at 1am it appears to be gone...anyway the window from 12am thru 6am looks good or else your're fuct

although, on a friday night I would not leave until after 1am maybe 2am as the LA traffic is FIERCE trying to get into vegas (not so much the 15 in CA but the 15 past stateline)

you could always go the other route through the grapevine but it cost you just as much or even more time if there is one accident

I think you're fine after 10AM and before 2PM. Obviously noon is a little rough during lunch hour. I've also done the drive after 8PM and it's cool. I would go the 210 to the 15 so you can avoid the 10.

There is nothing at all to see on the way. Just drive fast and get to Vegas in around 4 hours.

Whenever I drive from San Diego I have been instructed to take the 15-215-15 because its faster. Is this true or just some hooplah?
