Default question regarding moving up quick!

ALright guys Ive been playin poker nl and lately limit for about 8 months and not till recently I started winning. I have lost about 1.5k before i learned about proper br and stuff. I currently have 700$ on pp playing 1/2 but Im thinking of putting 600 more to play 2/4. Should I move up to quickly or just let it ride out till i have proper br for 2/4> ? I started with 100 2 weeks ago on pp and got it up to 700. Is it profitable to play on pp even without rakeback or should i put some money elsewhere and take advantage of rakeback?

I'd play 1/2 until I got the $700 up to $1200 or so then give it a shot. I'm not saying anything bad about your poker game (I have no idea how good you are) but you could just be running white hot right now (actually you are running hot right now, regardless of whether you are a winning player or not, unless you've played over 10k hands in the last 2 weeks.) There are ways to calculate the odds of whether or not you are a winning player at a limit. A lot of people recommend getting this calculation over 95% (or even 98%+) before moving up, some want to be winning after 10k hands, etc. If you can afford it and want to take a shot, you can always just move back down if you start getting killed, and rebuild/reassess/try again in a month or 2.

i actually had the br 3/6 but stayed at 1 dollar limit. i took it all out when UB started [censored] up then I deposited 100 on pp so i can play before I decide where to put my br. Turned it into 700 in 2 weeks running hot and playing good. No im contemplating adding more money and moving to 2/4 so i can move up real quick. I have over 50k hand playing dollar and running over 5bb/100 1 tabling.

A few questions:

1) Do you use pokertracker and pokerace/GT?
2) If you supplement your bankroll with $600 or whatever, can you afford to lose that money if things don't go well?
3) Are you able to deal with $200 - $400 downswings over one session?

If you answered yes to these three questions, I'd say go for it. Good luck.

For me I waited until I had 400BB's for 2/4 then If I went below 300BB I would move back to 1/2

I use pt and gametime but I rarely use the HU display. I can afford to lose to lose my current br but I would rather just build from that and not having to worry about putting n money.
I think I am very capable of dealing with big money downswing(300+) aslong as I have proper br.

You'd better be careful. You can play perfectly and still easily lose 300+. You can certainly expect downswings a lot bigger than 75BB during your poker career.

I have a personal rule that I won't move up in limits until I've earnt the bankroll required (300BB) from my current limit. So, if I was you, I wouldn't be moving up until I'd won another $500.

Probably why I'm still at 2/4. Plus the splurging on holidays thing .

Each to their own. I've deposited money from my pocket twice in my life and hated doing it both times.

Not sure I understand this correctly but if you are saying you are a 5BB/100 winner after 50K hands you should not waste another second at this limit. Even with less than 200BB for the new limit. You can always drop down and rebuild if you take a 100BB hit.

I moved up for 100BB to 2/4 lately and lost it all. I still don`t know if it is because i`m not ready for it yet or if it was just bad luck. I DO know 2/4 is a lot more aggresive, but because i like to play agrassive myself too, i liked to give it a try... for now... I`m back at 1/2 now earning my money back, which is a hard job losing 100 BB.
