I play alot of poker online, and recently some of the sites I play at have started with Blackjack,I have read some blackjack books about card counting, and have begun to intrest my self for the game, edge over the house sounds good, but is counting possible in online casinos such as poker sites? how do I know how many decks they are using?
or what the best strategi is? are some of you doing this? or does it only work in real casinos?

NO it is not possible. My freshmen year of college I spent about 1 year card counting. (so I know what i"m talking about, made $8 a hour, WOOOHOOO!!!!)

It's not possible because online blackjack "shuffles" the deck too often, usually after only 10% of the deck has been used.

however many of the bonuses in those casinos are +EV and it can be a great place to go to build your bankroll if you are interesteed in doing something other than poker.

but card-counting ain't gonna happen online.
and it's less and less viable in the live casinos as well.

some sites shuffle after each hand, others continuous shuffle for each card. i do not even think there is 10% penetration.

[/ QUOTE ]What does this mean? You're saying they're shuffling the unseen deck? (Seems unneccessary.)

Or do you mean they shuffle the cards immediately mucked by previous players? That'd be intense. (And silly.)

Means you're effectively going to get random cards each hand, so card counting won't do any good.

Otherwise we'd all be using software to do it :-)

Can you mark cards online? I've attempted this, but so far it's only lost me money. Must be variance.

yes...we understand that it's going to be random every time.

but I also don't understand the distinction of 'continuous shuffle after each card'.

FWIW - I've read before that some online-sites will have 10% or so pen. I thought that perhaps Party BJ was this way.

Still wouldn't make much of a difference for trying to count them of course. Especially if you don't even get to know when that shuffle is taking place anyway.

And somebody else mentioned that site where they have a webcam of a dealer with real cards. So conceiveably that site COULD be counted. But if they saw you varying your bets a lot it would be very easy for them to determine that you were counting and then it would be just as easy for them to decide that they don't feel like paying you your money.
