Default I Could Listen to Joe Satriani for Hours

Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, and Steve Vai

I knew Satriani taught Kirk Hammett (Metallica; one of my favorite bands) to play, but never listened to any of his stuff till recently.

He's good. Strange Beautiful Music is an awesome album, I recommend it.

The G3 shows range from pretty sweet to kinda gay.

BTW he also taught the fgt from Counting Crows, and whatever + points he gets for teaching KH are mitigated by this.

I think he is a musicians musician. Myself, and all my friends that are musicians love him. Our friends who aren't often say what many people here have said:

Oh, he plays fast so what.
-and the always favorite:

He needs to have someone singing for him.

I'm like WTF? His guitar is speaking. They don't seem to hear it.

Anyhow, I got to go see him maybe eight years ago. Just him, not with G3. Anyhow, we get there and I didn't realize Stuart Hamm was playing bass for him. Holy Mother of all things great and small....when they started up the opening notes of 'always with me always with you' it was Stu tapping the lines out on the bass. It freaking rocked the house. The sound was perfect. Concert was perfect. I will always remember that show.
