Villian seems decent but fairly straightforward. He's 20/12/2 and has given me respect up until this point. My image is pretty solid.

Looks like you missed out on a lot of value.

Looks like you missed out on a lot of value. [/ QUOTE ] Care to elaborate where? Edit: In reference to Xorbie's line, I think that's fine, however we lose value from QQ or AQ (debatable PF call) that decides to fire the turn. IMO, if we raise the turn or river, it looks like we (maybe) are leaving money on the table against 6 combos of AK, whereas we save money against 6 combos of JJ/KK. The rest of his range nets us the same win/loss result. KoW |

the lost value here is in bet sizes, not number of bets. you can get $60 + $140 no problem vs AK.

Aggie,
With these stacks and the amount of money that you put in pre flop, you want to try to get all in I wouldn't fold to any damn c/r's either |

I hate to do it but i'm bumping my own thread
[ QUOTE ] Looks like you missed out on a lot of value. [/ QUOTE ] My thinking on this hand was as follows: When villian calls my preflop reraise i put him on a pretty narrow hand range. AK,TT+,possibly AQ, and a very small chance for some smaller pair or suited connector. The flop is scary and puts me in a WA/WB situation. If villians got QQ or TT he's not calling a big flop bet so the best way to extract value is probably to let him think he's got the best hand. If he's got AK there is a good chance i am missing an opportunity to stack him (although he may be able to get away). If villian outflopped me, the way i played my hand minimizes my loss. Also, there is no chance of getting outplayed when i play it this soft. So the only time i'm really losing value is when he's got AK (and since i've got 2 aces that hand becomes a lot less likely) or when villian hits a miracle 2-outer when he would have folded if i had bet. |

I play it the same very often in spots like this against the player you describe. Maybe that makes me weak tight?

The flop is NOT scary. According to you - he has a very narrow range in which he will call your re-raise. The only hands that beat you are KK and JJ - he's not calling your re-raise with KJ. You probably won't get any action if villain has QQ or TT, and he will only give action with AK. I say value bet all 3 streets. He will either call down with AK or fold with QQ,TT.

This is probably how I would play against this opponent. That doesn't make it correct though...

you could argue for a thin value raise but this hand plays just like AK.
i hate a turn raise cuz the distinct possibility of a three bet even from a AK who is trying to move another AK off their hand. and if you don't like the way the hand is developing read-wise or can't narrow down his range by the turn, there is v. little value on a raise on the last two streets. |
