live 10-20
villain (button) is a tight, decent player. He's a bit on the passive side, but he will adjust for things like steal-resteal situations. He doesn't bluff very often, but he's not incapable of it. He's friendly and not the actor type at all. He probably sees me about the same way that I see him. Earlier in the evening he did make one questionable play, though. He raised PF from LP, checked through a two-tone board (multiway), checked through the turn when he made TPGK (he had none of the flush cards) and raised a river bet on a blank river. Fold to me in the CO and I raise K9o, villain 3-bets, blinds clear out, I call. Flop: 567r I check, villain bets, I call. Turn: 9 I check, villain thinks for a bit and bets, I raise, villain calls relatively quickly. River: blank I bet, intending to fold. Standard? Should I just bet the turn? Is c/f (or even c/c?) better on the river? |

Turn just bet. He will check alot of hands that have 6 outs, but will only call down a cr/barrel with better hands. bet/fold is fine on river.

and given your turn c/r, I'm not putting in any bets on this river...

thanks for the input. I should have mentioned that I checked the turn with the intention to actually fold sometimes if he bet confidently/in rhythm. His hesitation is what made made me think that he was deciding whether or not fire again with overcards (he's good enough to not freeze up with a big pair just because of the one-card straight).
On the river, I figured I had some fold equity, he might make a crying call with AK, and that it would be good not to have to show my hand. In retrospect, the first two reasons are way too optimistic, but is that last one a valid reason to bet? He is a tight player and I'd been buying the button off of him somewhat regularly. I'm not trying to justify my play, I'm just looking for more feedback on my thought process. |

I don't mind the turn C/r, but when he quickly calls it signals to me that you are beat
