How to play: Possible Freeroll Oppurtunity with TP on 3 Flush
So here a predicament that came up twice in tourneys I played today
PokerStars Game #13179689769: Tournament #65928058, $20+$2 Hold'em No Limit - Level V (75/150) - 2007/11/11 - 15:33:02 (ET) Table '65928058 17' 9-max Seat #8 is the button Seat 1: mattymat (4065 in chips) Seat 2: Bobkat513 (2660 in chips) Seat 3: BarneyR2005 (2750 in chips) Seat 4: caecilius (5185 in chips) is sitting out Seat 5: Tilter (8160 in chips) Seat 6: kgbs_place (5840 in chips) is sitting out Seat 8: rayjay777 (4540 in chips) Seat 9: Karoly_NL (15395 in chips) Karoly_NL: posts small blind 75 mattymat: posts big blind 150 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to Tilter [As Jd] Bobkat513: calls 150 BarneyR2005: folds caecilius: folds Tilter: calls 150 kgbs_place: folds rayjay777: folds Karoly_NL: folds mattymat: checks *** FLOP *** [Ah 4s Qs] mattymat: checks Bobkat513: bets 450 Tilter: calls 450 mattymat: folds *** TURN *** [Ah 4s Qs] [Ks] Bobkat513: bets 450 Tilter: calls 450 *** RIVER *** [Ah 4s Qs Ks] [5c] Bobkat513: bets 600 Tilter: calls 600 *** SHOW DOWN *** Bobkat513: shows [Jh Ad] (a pair of Aces) Tilter: shows [As Jd] (a pair of Aces) Bobkat513 collected 1763 from pot Tilter collected 1762 from pot *** SUMMARY *** Total pot 3525 | Rake 0 Board [Ah 4s Qs Ks 5c] Seat 1: mattymat (big blind) folded on the Flop Seat 2: Bobkat513 showed [Jh Ad] and won (1763) with a pair of Aces Seat 3: BarneyR2005 folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 4: caecilius folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 5: Tilter showed [As Jd] and won (1762) with a pair of Aces Seat 6: kgbs_place folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 8: rayjay777 (button) folded before Flop (didn't bet) Seat 9: Karoly_NL (small blind) folded before Flop Besides forgetting to raise the limper preflop. On the flop I have top pair with a good kicker, and my line is just to let him do the betting. Now the turn comes and he leads, this seems like a good spot to shove now and take him off possibly the best hand. What if his stack was the same size as mine, put in a raise but then fold to a 3 bet (assuming the odds are no longer their). The other situation was when I had AxQc and board came out Ac7c2x8c, should I put in a raise here? So the main question is should I continue to call down and not play a big pot, or stick it in with the semi-bluff draw (possible freeroll). |

Re: How to play: Possible Freeroll Oppurtunity with TP on 3 Flush
Depending on my read of UTG, I'd prob raise. I think you can raise to something like 1350 to 1800 to commit him on the turn. If stacks were bigger I prefer calling down. Second hand, I'd have to see the action but it looks like a raise would be good.

if you're raising the turn you're not folding to a shove.

[ QUOTE ]
if you're raising the turn you're not folding to a shove. [/ QUOTE ] Another thing, if i'm raising the turn do I make worst hands fold and better hands call. I almost never make a better hand fold (ie 2 pair, set, AK) but I can still get paid off on the river from a weaker ace? |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't mind getting weaker hands to fold and taking it down on the turn. If you put Villain on a weaker Ace, how silly would it be to let him hit his kicker on the river, or having you guys chop if another K/Q pais the board. And if your'e worried about getting called by a better hand, you still have outs to the nut flush or broadway if the T hits. |
