For Hand 1, I raised the flop b/c thats pretty standard in this situation. Test if he's cbetting and I have equity if my straight hits. We both checked the turn and he checked the river, which leads me to believe he's either on AK/AQ or an under pair. I have already done an excellent job of representing AJ/KJ on the flop and then checking the turn b/c the 10 may scare me. Villain is solid TAG(20/19/2.0 over 107 sample size). Is the river push excessive or a reasonable play given my read?

I'm TAG running 16/8 over 11k hands working on increasing my pfr. From what I've seen it's extremely rare for a solid TAG player to run like this. Does anyone have suggestions on my specific plays other than just saying yes I am a donkey?
Keep in mind my frustration b/c the first two hands were b2b and the others were within 4 or 5 hands of each other. A real confidence killer. |

You should know that you played hand 1 like a donkey. The other hands are well played. Sorry you got coolered in hand 2 and 3, but it happens all the time. It's not extremely rare to run bad, if you think it is, i have bad news: the next real big downswing will destroy you. And the downswing will come. Just don't go on ninja monkey tilt, there is nothing you can do about it.
Maybe one advice, because i was in a similar situation last month: Don't mix up preflop looseness and postflop aggression. I don't know if you do, but i did and i paid for it while trying to widen my preflop range. Just play ABC poker postflop and save your money for good spots, you will get paid off anyway. Losing many small pots is not nearly as bad as loosing one or two big pots. [ QUOTE ] Keep in mind my frustration b/c the first two hands were b2b and the others were within 4 or 5 hands of each other. A real confidence killer. [/ QUOTE ] Hand 1 was awfully played, but you made the right decisions in the other hands, and that is exactly what you need to do to win over the long run. |

Even when I have position, I hate playing K-Q against a raise - I would just fold it preflop. I play at 25 NL as well and I think my biggest leak, currently, is getting these crazy ideas to make a move - I do it about once a night and I ALWAYS regret it.
Hand 2 just happens - good fold. Hand 3 & 4 - I don't hesitate to get all-in against a short stack with those hands - sometimes it doesn't pan out - but quite often it does. |

Hand 1 river is god-awful. You're already beating underpairs, Ts and Js are calling, and a half pot bet is more than enough to take out AQ/AK; you're risking 4 times as much as you need to, easily.
Everything else is standard and really isn't that bad. I started off today's 2-hour session with a 4 BI dumping spree but still ended up 2 BI. |

I was indecisive on what to river bet on Hand 1. I thought about making a 1/2 to full size pot bet to push out Ace high, but the little man in the back of my head said this person may feel 2pr on the board with Ace high is good. I obv got extremely unlucky that he checked quads into me on the river. If he bet out I would happily have folded and saved an additional 20 bucks.

Check down hand 1, you would have only lost 20bbs there
Hands 2-4 were played fine, and I calculated u lost only 168bb among those 3. Besides hand 1, this belongs in BBV Crovax |

Hand 1 is pure donkey. You're ahead of so much that there's no need to bet there (pp's got counterfeited, 89/Q9 you're ahead of). Every other bit of his range is probably calling, ie AJ/AT -- and the hugely unlikely whatever.
What A gets to that point on the river from the flop? AQ?? A5? fine, let 'im take it if that's the way it goes. The others look fine. I see swings like this on an hourly basis. There's nothing, zip, nada, weird about it. |
