What are your own numbers? I think you may get looked up light. I experimented with maniac style (37/35/3) last friday (posted results in microbrew) and you get a ridiculous amount of action. But if you have tptk or 2 pair you have to felt it.

Now that we know you are a maniac, that might explain the mindset of your competition. I think you have to, at minimum, call it down - UNLESS the board appears more drawy. My guess is that the villain has an overpair and thinks you hit a pair with your AX or worse. But, as is always the case with maniacal play, you risk running into big hands, too. If you are going to stick with your strategy, you need to call his min reraise.

i raise pot size and get it in, i think you have good equity against even his calling range (someone correct me if i'm wrong)if you are a maniac... maybe he'd get it in w/ an overpair or combo draw. i feel like even though he's passive he still could be doing this with a wide range especially if you are a maniac. the more likely he is only doing this w/ set or straight the less good raising is though right?

Because Im a maniac, I would rather just talk about post flop here. [/ QUOTE ] nobody would come in this situation with a standart tag style. I dont think this is yours is the right style at nl25, especially if you dont know how to play this postflop. i dont like a call here because there almost is no turncard that would be nice for you and you give him great odds for his oesd or fd. You could just raise but with the right 3bet size that wouldnt give anyone any odds you are allin AND you have much fe. |

Is preflop standard for you? If so, I am interested in your results with these types of hands.
About the hand. I always have trouble analysing these hands in a vacuum, but at the table I usually don't have problem, due to more info. But I think a call is good here and reevaluate on the turn (i.e. try to get money in on a non 8,5,3 or club turn). I think 4betting is a bit overplaying your holding. But then again, they might be playing back at you since you are obviously aggressively involved in a lot of hands. Don't know how much this influences his range. I guess you are the best in judging that. |
