Re: JJ in 50k on stars??????
i sound like a semi broken record in these posts (do you young ins know what a record is?)...you cannot base borderline deicions like this on hand strength alone...has the villan miniraised before? Have you repopped from blinds before?
I call here and look him up...I think his range is wide enough to include AJ+ and a lot of worse pairs and you have the stack to do it |

Re: JJ in 50k on stars??????
Well, it's not quite 2:1 (I got 1.87:1 if I got the numbers right) but whatever. This is all about reads and ranges.
Range: I may be a little paranoid here, but from my experience this line is a monster pretty much all the time. So my range wouldn't include stuff like AJ or rarely even AQ. So I'm thinking QQ+,AK, and I weight it more heavily to the pairs. Reads: Of course, I'd modify this range if I had been reraising a lot and expecting someone to try to trap me into a reraise with AJ/AQ/TT hands. I'd also adjust it if the initial raiser minraised a lot pf. But without reads, I'd listen to my paranoia and stick with the QQ+,AK range, as tight as that is. Against this range you're 36%... so that calls for a very thin call. But if you skew the range more toward the big pairs and less toward the AK hands, it becomes even closer and maybe folding with a healthy stack is better. Yeah, I know how nitty that sounds but I've been burned way too often by the minraise/push line. |

Re: JJ in 50k on stars??????
Monsters under the bed etc. I had a villain take this exact line with me the other night in the 55k and it was 88. I personally think this is more likely to be AK than QQ, so I wouldn't take much weight from AK. From what you're saying it reads like you think this is AA like 90% of the time, and I don't know how else to say it, but that just isn't true. Maybe it's happened a few times in a row, but getting it in here is the right thing to do, don't let the paranoia get the best of you. If you're really convinced that this is like always AA, then just flat with JJ and play for set value, don't reraise then fold under any circumstances.

Re: JJ in 50k on stars??????
It's not the minraise alone that's scary, but the minraise with the push over a big raise. And yeah, I know this is serious MUBS but I see it a lot, especially at the low levels at which I play.

I mean, you are in what is essentially a blind battle here. 1010 is going to RR all in all the time because, maybe 99. Once you factor the 1010 in, I mean, it's a call. Barry |

would you have called here hoping he had AK?...I was confused by the minraise thinking he had AA. [/ QUOTE ] Once u 3-bet, the call is automatic. You're getting almost 2 to 1, and u have 40% equity vs a range as narrow as: KK+;AKs;AKo (villain's actual range will prob be much wider.) |
