Hi all,

The question is : how much should I raise here, and why ? Poker Stars, $1 + $0.20 NL Hold'em Tournament, 75/150 Blinds, 8 Players LegoPoker Hand History Converter SB: 5,405 BB: 1,255 UTG: 8,970 UTG+1: 5,677 MP1: 3,185 MP2: 3,790 CO: 3,155 Hero (BTN): 5,075 Pre-Flop: (150) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (BTN) 4 folds, MP2 calls 150, CO calls 150, Hero raises to 800, SB calls 650, MP2 calls 650, CO folds Flop: (2,550) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 Players) Btw, do you think my preflop raise was good or not ? Thanks for all your answers |

Re: NL Tournament - Raise after flop with QQQ
Your pf raise is fine, I typically make it 750 pre.
Is that your whole question? Bet if checked to. 1300 looks good, because you're so shallow. If you guys were deeper, say 8k effective, i'd make a normal bet of like 1800. |

So a bet of half the pot would be good here. That's what I thought. Unfortunately i didn't do that |

Unfortunately i didn't do that [/ QUOTE ] This board has plenty of possible draws. I usually bet 2/3 - 3/4 x pot in these spots. betting 1/2 the pot gives the first caller 3:1, which is enough for him to call with a flush or straight draw if you will pay off a moderate bet when he hits. I'll bet more if one or both opponents is really loose and likely to call a bigger bet. If the opponents are loose and bad I will choose a flop bet that will allow me to get all in by the river. |

Re: NL Tournament - Raise after flop with QQQ
if it's checked to you - you have to bet for 2 reasons:
1.) you have to protect against a draw 2.) if you raiser preflop that strong and don't bet on the turn villains will be very suspicious if you hit the top set you have often the problem to get the money in, cause it's unlikely that someone has the fourth Q to make top pair. So you can only get action from a draw (of course also from another set - but in this case all chips will go into the middle anyway). If they are on a draw (flush or oesd) you can usually bet around 2/3 - 3/4 (as posted before) on the flop, cause most draws call with good implied odds. In this case it's important to get in as most as you can on the flop, cause if they miss the draw, they will mostly fold to a large turn bet. so i would make it about 1600-1800 on the flop. |
